Leadership of OGKTMA and AAPI met Honorable Health Minister of Telangana Shri Harish Rao garu for over an hour. He mentioned government programs already rolled out or being rolled out in terms of Diabetes and Hypertension screening to arrest organ damages that they are seeing in young individuals.
The points that we were able to impress upon from the topics discussed were-
- Increasing Emergency Medicine PG seats from current 3 institutions (NIMS and 2 Kamineni hospitals) to many more especially, immediately in Osmania Gandhi and Kakatiya Medical colleges, due to the complete infrastructure present already.
- Introducing some Kind of mandatory basic CPR training for High School graduation. Quoted countries like Norway and Denmark.
- He encouraged us to adopt medical colleges for the student’s upliftment in academics. We appraised him about what we are going to start in Kakatiya medical college- Monthly CME webinars, Mentoring students in Research and increasing research activities
